Biography

Charles Carpenter is a Los Angeles based composer whose lifetime dedication to music has traversed many musical genres including jazz, rock, electronica, microtonal and classical symphonic orchestrations. His music has garnered him enthusiastic reviews and special mention in several audiophile publications including High Performance review, The Absolute Sound and Keyboard Magazine. Charles has released 5 recordings of art music, his most notable recordings in the microtonal Bohlen-Pierce tuning system.Charles is considered one of the most prolific composers in this tuning, and continues to write progressive music in his spare time.

In recent years, Charles has focused his efforts on music for media productions. Among his many projects, he has worked closely with producer Dave Christiano on the popular Christian TV show 7th Street Theater, scoring 31 episodes, and is scoring Davels next feature, Power of the Air. Charles has also partnered with award winning screenwriter Alfred Thomas Catalfo, scoring Bighorn and the New Hampshire Film festival award winning Rocketship.

Charles has a degree in Music Composition from the Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts, and received a diploma in Film Scoring from Music for the Media, West Sussex, UK.
